How did you prepare for the new season?
Campanelli: “To prepare for the high school season I did a lot of lifting and agility to be stronger and quicker. I also worked a lot on my shot and making it more consistent, while also developing more moves and ways to get to the basket.”
Who assisted you the most in development of your basketball skills? Family members who played?
Campanelli: “My parents (Josh and Liah) definitely assisted my growth in basketball helping me a lot and getting me in with trainers and strength coaches to help better my performance. They also both played basketball growing up, through high school, and two years in community college. My sister Sam also plays basketball and we grew up playing together and on the same high school team and she now plays D-2 basketball at Lewis University.”
How did your interest in basketball get started?
Campanelli: “I started playing red basketball in first grade and continued through third grade. Then I played feeder basketball 4-8th grade, and then was fortunate enough to make varsity as a freshman and play with my sister and a super supportive group of girls.”
Other sports you have played in prior to high school?
Campanelli: “I played golf my freshman and sophomore year but ended up quitting because it was a lot with AAU basketball. I also ran track my freshman year and went down state for the 4×400 with my sister and Jessie Ozzauto, another basketball teammate. I ended up quitting track because it also was a busy time of year with AAU and traveling to tournaments for basketball.”
What is your pregame routine?
Campanelli: “My pregame routine is always getting my Starbucks refresher and eating my noodles followed by braiding my teammates’ hair.”
Thoughts on having so many new players and how they have caught on.
Campanelli: “We have a lot of new players this year and I would say my main goal is to create stronger bonds and become stronger as a team and that’ll make us really good and a strong opponent for other teams next year.”
Future goals for basketball and for college?
Campanelli: “I definitely want to continue my basketball career in college I’ve been blessed to have multiple options for college, I am beginning to narrow down and figure out where I belong best.”
