
Girls bowlers ready for ’24
HUNTLEY — The Huntley girls bowling team continued to build momentum heading into the second half of the season.
The Red Raiders won three of four dual matches, as individual efforts included two series scores that topped 600 pins.\
The Red Raiders resume KRC-FVC matches by hosting Burlington Central Jan. 8 at Bowl-Hi Lanes, at Johnsburg Jan. 9 and host Jacobs Jan. 11. Head coach Eric DeBello summed up the 2023 portion of the schedule.
“Overall I’m pleased and proud of my bowlers through the first half of our season,” coach Eric DeBello said. “We had a decent first half and we should improve. If we stay mentally strong, get back to the fundamentals and continue to grind out good things will happen for us.”
Erica DeBello reached a 726 series with a high game of 258 in a Red Raiders win over Rockford Auburn. Prianca Waters contributed a 633 series. Katie Scaletta rolled a 540, while MacKenzie Miller had a 466; Ashlyn Tenglin, 464 and Jana Boudreau, 434.
“Both Erica DeBello and Waters were on and rolling it well,” DeBello said.
Dundee-Crown was the next challenge for the girls and Huntley won, 2,804 to 2,327 pins. DeBello led in that victory with a 566 series and 207 high game; Waters was next with a 462; Boudreau rolled a 441; Kaelyn Keegan had a 433 and Tenglin a 404.
Post-season
The IHSA announced assignments for the one class girls bowling post-season tournament. HHS will be at the Oswego Regional on Saturday, Feb. 3. The sectional round is at Sycamore’s Mardis Gras Lanes Feb. 10.
