Amazon’s newest facility in Huntley unveils its completed interior in a ribbon-cutting ceremony
HUNTLEY — Since 2021, the Amazon receive center, located at 41W368 Freeman Road, has been steadily working towards its goal of opening. It was initially slated to be open for business in the summer of 2022, however, setbacks with the building’s interior caused Amazon to push their newest receive center’s new anticipated opening to be closer towards the end of 2023, as previously reported in My Huntley News.
While it is now 2024, Amazon’s newest facility in Huntley was officially able to unveil the receive center in a flag-raising and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 28. The ceremony took place at 11500 Freeman Road and included a meet and greet in the main lobby to introduce attendees to members of the Amazon launch team, the site leadership team, and some of the first Amazon associates from Huntley and surrounding areas.
The flag-raising ceremony took place at 11:30 a.m., which symbolized the start of a new chapter for Amazon’s facility in Huntley according to the Regional Public Relations Manager for Amazon Caitlin Tully. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place shortly after.
Following that official celebration of the facility’s opening guests got to experience a guided tour of the interior of the building, where attendees got an in-depth look at how the facility operates.
Tour guests also got an inside look at the advanced technologies and logistics systems that power Amazon’s day-to-day operations. The tour took approximately 45 minutes.
