Staff for Huntley’s New Amazon facility look forward to community partnership

HUNTLEY — With the new Amazon facility finally having held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 28, General Manager Taseen Mohammed has a positive outlook on the future of the receive center within the community.

“Amazon’s newly launched Cross Dock (IXD) site is an exciting opportunity for us to continue our great partnership with the city and the community, and we are thankful to so many of you for your significant contributions in getting this site open,” said Mohammed. “We want to specially thank Mayor Timothy Hoeft and the town of Huntley, including all the agencies who helped us make this a reality. We know Huntley has a rich history, and we look forward to our ongoing partnership and becoming an active and trusted member of the community.”

The new receive facility—also referred to as RFD2, is 629,000 square feet and is hiring 200 employees a week, according to Amazon Regional Public Relations Manager Caitlin Tully. Hiring is expected to ramp up so the facility will have approximately 2,400 employees on-site.
