
Red Raiders win boys FVC boys indoor
HUNTLEY — The Huntley boys track and field team dominated the Fox Valley Conference meet as the Red Raiders won the title at the HHS field house March 12.
“The kids were nothing short of amazing,” Huntley head coach Chris Maxedon said. “We took first in nine of 15 events. Our team score was 146 points, and second place scored 48 points.”
Junior Zach Rysavy had an outstanding meet in the jumps as he won the triple jump with a new FVC Meet and field house record 13.72 meters effort. He also won the long jump, with a 6.58 meters. Teammate junior Ryan Schroeder was third, 6.34 meters and junior Ari Friebig was fifth, 6.18 meters.
Other highlights for Huntley included:
Senior Talon Sargent won the title in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 51.79 seconds.
Junior Dominic Giuseffi brought home the title in the 200-meter run in 23.36 seconds. Lex Giron, a senior, was third with a 23.66 clocking.
Giuseffi became a double winner with a title in the 60-meter dash as he edged teammate Vinny Costa by the closest of margins, 7.07 to 7.08 seconds.
The 4×200-meter relay squad of Costa, Giuseffi, Giron and Sargent clocked a winning 1:31.81.
HHS finished first and second in the 60 meter hurdles as seniors Ryan Schroeder won in 8.96 seconds and Logan Borzych was runner-up in 9.08 seconds.
Junior Tommy Nitz took second in the 1,600-meter run, with a 4:26.69 time.
