Elgin man charged with murdering his wife pleads guilty
ELGIN—Back on July 12, 2021, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the area of Lawrence Avenue and North Aldine Street for a report of a 4-year-old boy found walking alone.
Upon further investigation, authorities determined the boy’s address as being in the 300 block of Heine Avenue in Elgin. Officers proceeded to go to that location where they found a 3-year-old boy in the home. Deeper within the residence, law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of 33-year-old Wendy Ayllon. She was the mother of both the 4-year-old and 3-year-old.
As previously reported in My Huntley News, investigators then attempted to locate Wendy’s husband, Victor H. Ayllon. He was found at his parent’s house with faint marks on his wrists, according to a statement from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Victor was taken to the hospital and subsequently released to the police. Law enforcement later learned that in the events before the murder incident, Wendy had picked up Victor in the early morning hours of July 12. They arrived back at home at 2:16 a.m.
At 3:16 a.m., Victor left the home. A camera taken from the Ayllon residence captured the sound of arguing, followed by Wendy screaming. A thud sound was also heard during that time.
Once in police custody, Victor admitted that he and his wife had been in an argument where he accused Wendy of infidelity. It was noted that there was no evidence found to corroborate his accusations towards Wendy. The couple was also arguing over Victor’s drug addiction.
During the argument, Victor proceeded to strangle Wendy to death and left her body with their two young children.
An autopsy confirmed that Wendy’s cause of death was due to manual strangulation.
On April 25, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced that Victor pled guilty to the offense of first-degree murder, a Class M felony.
Kane County Judge DJ Tegeler accepted the plea and set Victor’s next court appearance for June 20 at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 313 at the Kane County Judicial Center for sentencing.
“The heinous action of the defendant, who callously strangled his wife to death and left her body with their two young children, is utterly reprehensible. His selfish attempt to evade responsibility for his abhorrent actions demonstrates a complete disregard for human life and parental duty,” said Mosser in a press release statement. “The guilty plea secured today brings some measure of justice for Wendy Ayllon, whose life was tragically cut short, and her family. We will continue to seek the appropriate punishment for this senseless act of violence.”
Victor faces a sentence of 20-60 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a four-year mandatory supervised release period.
“Our thoughts remain with the victims, particularly the young children who have been left traumatized by this horrific ordeal. My thanks to the Elgin Detectives Chris Hughes and Chris Valle and the Elgin Police Department for their thorough investigation that resulted in the defendant pleading guilty to this crime,” continued Mosser.
Victor remains in custody at the Kane County jail in St. Charles.
