Foster opens Congressional office here
Huntley is now home to a satellite office for Congressman Bill Foster (D-District 11).
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the office, at Huntley Tech Center, on April 27. Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce coordinated the event along with area Chamber offices. Constituents seeking assistance from Foster’s staff will need an appointment at the office, 11187 E. Dundee Road, Suite 101, phone 630-585-7672.
In remarks, Foster praised Huntley as a dynamic, progressive community, adding a field office is “critical” to serving the needs of the 11th District.
“The office will serve the residents of the five northern-most counties,” Foster said. “My staff and I strive to provide the highest level of service to the people of the 11th District of Illinois. We are ready and eager to serve you.”
One highlight of the event was the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of the National Anthem by Cody Binger of Huntley. The youngster received an award from Foster.
Foster, 68, has a previous political background in business and science. He has served as a Congressman since 2008, in the former District 14 and now District 11, as part of the Illinois Congressional delegation. He reflected on his more than 15 years in Congress.
“What is most satisfying for me is hearing ‘thank-you’ from residents for legislation I supported in the past, such as the Affordable Care Act. People say thanks for now having coverage for previous existing conditions and are able to start a small business,” Foster said.
International issues
Foster voted in favor of the aide to Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan package, which sparked supporters of Palestine who protested outside of the office. There were no arrests, Huntley Police Deputy Chief Linda Hooten said.
“I think current the current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson (R-LA.) is much more open to collaboration than former Speaker Mike McCarthy was. Getting the aide package approved was a big hurdle to pass.”
