Huntley Area Public Library gears up for its 2024 Summer Reading Challenge
HUNTLEY — With summer right around the corner, the Huntley Area Public Library (HAPL) is getting ready for an exciting kickoff to its 2024 Summer Reading Challenge, “Read, Renew, Repeat,” with a Registration Day event on June 3. HAPL invites families and community members to join in the festivities and sign up for a summer of reading and repeating.
On June 3, families and community members will have the opportunity to enter the library’s “Read, Renew, Repeat” Summer Reading Challenge, where children, teens, and adults can participate for a chance to win prizes.
Smarty Pants Chicago’s Favorite Family Entertainer, will be at the HAPL to put on their Big Balloon Show from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Inspired by the classic, “Choose Your Own Adventure” book series, the audience will vote on the show’s direction — silly or scary.
Although the event is currently full, individuals are welcome to join the waitlist at huntley.libnet.info/event/10362854.
After the show, attendees will head outside where they will be able to enjoy some Kona Ice from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition, the Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department will be at the HAPL Summer Reading Registration Day with their Rec2U van. Staff will provide fun activities for everyone to enjoy.
As a final takeaway for those in attendance, the library will be offering four sessions of their Glass Marble Magnets program, where participants can make and take home three marble magnets. Individuals can register for this event at huntleylibrary.org/events.
The HAPL will also be handing out other goodies throughout the day. For regular dates on the HAPL Summer Reading Challenge, individuals can follow the library’s social media pages and/or check out their website at www.huntleylibrary.org/2024srp/.
