Village Board honors Public Works and Engineering Department for being awarded ‘Gold level status’ at ISAWWA’s WATERCON
HUNTLEY — At the upcoming May 23 Village Board meeting, trustees will be recognizing the Public Works and Engineering Department for being awarded the Water Ambassador Program’s “Gold level status,” the highest achievement status through the Illinois Section of the American Water Works Association (ISAWWA).
The ISAWWA Water Ambassador Program was created to increase public perception, knowledge, and consumer education of the water industry, according to village staff. Participating water agencies accomplish the program goals each year by communicating educational articles and graphics to their customers through their websites, social media channels, and publications.
The Village of Huntley was notified of its award at the ISAWWA’s annual WATERCON conference that took place in April at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria. Huntley Water Operator, Devin Hanks, was in attendance to represent the village.
“Safe, clean water connects us all,” said American Water Works Association CEO David LaFrance. “When we recognize where our water comes from and how it touches every part of our lives, we understand its value, we become driven to keep it safe and accessible, and we make choices that lead to a sustainable water future.”
Representatives from ISAWWA will present the Village of Huntley with a Water Ambassador Program Gold level status award certificate. Additionally, the village will also be receiving “Water Ambassador” street signs to be placed at the entrances to Huntley.
