
Heroic firefighters rescue cats from house fire
CARPENTERSVILLE — In a heartwarming display of bravery and compassion, firefighters from the Carpentersville Fire Department alongside assistance from other departments, rescued three pet cats from a house fire that broke out on June 2, at approximately 8:37 a.m. The incident, which occurred at 166 Pheasant Trail, drew the attention and admiration of community members.
The fire engulfed a single-story residence belonging to Susan Bauer, who reported on her experience in a Facebook post. While the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, neighbors reported that the fire may have been caused by electrical issues.
Upon receiving the emergency call, the Carpentersville Fire Department worked with fire departments from East Dundee, West Dundee, Rutland-Dundee, Elgin, Barrington, Barrington Countryside, and Hanover Township to extinguish the blaze. The Carpentersville Police Department was also on the scene.
During the fire attack, three cats were removed from the home and handed over to paramedics for treatment on scene. Bauer stated that only two of the three cats required oxygen and are currently safe.
Carpentersville Fire Department Chief Bill Anaszewicz said that there were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported because of the incident. The fire was under control by 9:20 a.m.
Bauer is grateful for the help that has been provided to her by her neighbors and is thankful for all that the various fire departments did to rescue her and her cats.
Bauer’s home is estimated to have sustained $80,000 in damages.
