Students start “Charlotte’s Web” summer reading fun
HUNTLEY — All Huntley Community School District 158 elementary school students are invited to participate in the summer reading program, “Raiders Read Together”. This summer’s book is “Charlotte’s Web”, by E. B. White.
The first of several read-aloud sessions took place June 10 at Huntley Area Public Library. D158 Superitendent Dr. Jessica Lombard was the first reader in the Monday afternoon series. The gatherings begin at 1 p.m. In addition to the reading, students participated in an art activity.
Families are also encouraged to participate in a community-wide scavenger hunt in June and July in search of the main characters from the book by visiting local Huntley businesses.
The fun will conclude with a showing of the movie “Charlotte’s Web” at the Huntley High School football field on Aug. 9.
“We are committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of their individual needs, can fully participate and enjoy the Raiders Read Together experience. If your child requires modified materials, digital resources or other accommodations to engage in this literary adventure, see the district’s web site’s community page for a form for needed materials,” according to a D158 press release statement.
