Man charged with first-degree murder after stabbing a woman to death
ELGIN — In a joint statement by Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser and Elgin Police Chief Ana Lalley, it was announced that Pierre James French, 36, of the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard was being charged with two counts of first-degree murder, a Class M felony.
Mosser alleges that on Dec. 7, at around 1 a.m., Elgin Police officers responded to French’s residence for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located the deceased body of DreAnna D. Booker, 33, who had multiple stab wounds to her body. Shortly thereafter, French was taken into custody without incident.
Reportedly, French stabbed Booker multiple times with a knife, causing her death. Mosser also alleged that French intended to kill Booker and knew his actions created a strong probability of her death.
French is currently being detained at the Kane County Adult Justice Center in St. Charles with no bond. French’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 305 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
According to friends and family of the victim, French and Booker shared six children together and are now facing an uncertain future without both parents.
To help Booker’s family, a Giving Christmas Tree with donation cards will be placed at 1990 Royal Boulevard in Elgin. Donations will be accepted starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Booker’s mother, Diana, is also accepting monetary donations to help cover costs for the funeral. Individuals interested in donating can Cash App Diana at $dianawii and putting DreAnna in the notes.
