Huntley woman dies after car accident in Carpentersville
CARPENTERSVILLE — On Jan. 8, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Carpentersville Police officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving injuries at Randall Road and Binnie Road. A 70-year-old woman from Huntley was transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin where she was pronounced deceased.
According to authorities, the victim’s car was traveling northbound on Randall Road when she attempted to make a left turn (westbound) onto Binnie Road. Witnesses state that a black SUV that was traveling southbound on Randall Road ran a red light and struck the victim’s vehicle.
While the identity of the woman has not been made public, one of her daughters, Tiffany Drinkwater, has been vocal on social media about the tragic incident.
“This was my mother who was in the white car that died on impact. We were told last night (Jan. 8). We came to view the body to confirm it. I just read it was a black SUV that ran the light so thank you to the person that told us that, and trust me, it will be dealt with. She was supposed to come to Chicago today (Jan. 8) to spend the weekend with us,” wrote Drinkwater on Facebook.
The Kane County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team (KCART) were dispatched to the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
“We have obtained video footage of the incident from a passing vehicle equipped with an onboard camera, which will aid us in determining the cause of the crash,” stated Carpentersville Police Deputy Chief Kevin Stankowitz in a press release statement. “We thank all responding agencies and citizens who stopped to assist or share video evidence. Your help has been invaluable in addressing the tragic incident. This investigation is ongoing, and we will provide additional updates as they become available.”
Anyone with information or video of the accident is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Acevedo with the Carpentersville Police Department at 847-551-3481 or may also contact QuadCom Dispatch at 847-428-8784.
