Huntley woman killed in Carpentersville car accident identified
HUNTLEY — As previously reported, on Jan. 8, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Carpentersville Police officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving injuries at Randall Road and Binnie Road. A 70-year-old Huntley woman was transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin where she was pronounced deceased.
At the time of the incident, the identity of the victim was not shared with the public, however, one of the woman’s daughters, Tiffany Drinkwater, came forward on social media to share that the deceased individual was her mother.
This was later confirmed by the Kane Counter Coroner’s office on Jan. 17, who identified the Huntley resident as Maria Drinkwater.
An autopsy was performed on Jan. 10, and the preliminary cause of death was determined to be “Multiple Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Accident.” Toxicity samples were also collected and are currently undergoing analysis at a forensic lab.
“I want to thank everyone for the condolences in regards to my mother’s death,” wrote Tiffany in a Jan. 9 Facebook post. “She was the car that was hit by a black SUV and then had a pole fall on her car. She died on impact. Thank you for sharing the information you have. This was truly not the way I wanted my mother to end her journey. She had a great life and she was loved.”
