
Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announces scholarship opportunities for the 2025-26 school year
KANE AND MCHENRY COUNTIES — The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) has announced that it will reward over $58,000 in college scholarships throughout the state of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2025-2026 academic year.
The scholarships can only be applied to tuition, books, and school fees. The student must also be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Online learning at an Illinois-based school is also acceptable.
In addition to the ISA scholarship, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain announced that he will be awarding one scholarship of $500. There is no restriction on any applicant because of race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin.
To qualify for the ISA scholarship, applicants must meet certain conditions including: must be a permanent Illinois resident; must utilize scholarships at institutions of higher learning within the state, including those offering online learning; and must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2025-26 school year (excluding summer session).
Applications for the ISA scholarship are now available on the ISA website at ilsheriff.org/youth-2/ or an applicant’s local sheriff’s office. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question, and return all documentation to the sheriff’s office in their permanent county of residence by March 14 (must be postmarked by this date).
Students residing in Kane County should mail or deliver their applications to Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain, 37W755 IL Rt. 38, Suite A, St. Charles, IL 60175.
McHenry County students can also participate in the ISA scholarship by mailing or delivering their applications to McHenry County Sheriff Robb Tadelman at 2200 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL 60098.
For the 2024-25 academic year, Kane County had two ISA scholarship winners which included Abigail Hardekopf and Carson Bantz. Derek Kreisman was the only winner of the ISA scholarship in McHenry County. Kreisman who is a Cary-Grove High School graduate went on to study cybersecurity at Illinois State University.
