
Huntley Police Department release more information regarding suspect involved in a traffic altercation near Sun City
On Saturday June 26, the Huntley Police Department issued an alert to residents regarding a suspect that was on the run and believed to be in the Sun City neighborhood.
The police department responded to a call for a motorist assist at approximately 8:30 p.m. near the area of Route 47 and Del Webb Boulevard.
According to Huntley Police Deputy Chief Michael Klunk, as an officer was enroute to the location, another caller “reported what was allegedly gunshots being fired from a person that had left the disabled vehicle, that had been left in the roadway.”
Following that call, several officers were dispatched to the area where a short time later, another caller reported a male Caucasian with a beard, wearing camouflage shorts, a grey tank top and carrying a blue backpack that was attempting to make an entry to a home on the 12100 block of White Tail Ln.
Klunk stated that there were several additional calls received that described a similar looking male suspect in the neighborhood. Having observed police officers, the suspect fled the area between the houses, on foot.
Huntley Police requested more law enforcement resources in order to assist in locating the subject.
A search spanned several hours, which was conducted utilizing several officers from other agencies, as well as K-9 units, drones, and night vision.
At approximately 12:50 a.m. on June 27, the suspect was located in the area of the 13100 block of Crestview Dr. and was taken into custody.
According to police reports, “The suspect reported leg injuries and was transported to a local hospital for examination.”
As of current, no charges have been filed in the incident as it is still under investigation.
The Huntley Police Department is requesting additional information from the public who may have had an encounter or video, with a person matching the description, that was involved in the events that transpired during this timeframe.
