Illinois State Police respond to reckless driving accident at Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near Huntley
HUNTLEY – Illinois State Police (ISP) District 15 troopers were dispatched to the scene of an accident that occurred on July 8 at approximately 10:32 p.m.
According to a statement sent by ISP Trooper Omoayena Williams, the scene of the accident occurred on Interstate 90 (I-90) near milepost 46.75.
Upon arrival to the scene, ISP troopers responded to a one-unit personal injury traffic crash involving a green 2019 Ford Mustang, according to Williams.
Further investigation revealed that the Ford Mustang was traveling westbound when the driver attempted to avoid a collision with another vehicle on the roadway.
As a result, 32-year-old Elgin resident Joshua A. O’Neil, the driver of the Ford Mustang, “veered off the roadway to the left, and the front end of Unit 1, struck the concrete median barrier,” the report sent from Williams stated.
The vehicle then continued across all lanes of traffic before coming to rest in the center lane (lane 3).
ISP troopers issued citations to O’Neil for “driving too fast for conditions, following too closely and improper lane usage,” according to ISP records.
Although it was not indicated in the ISP report, witnesses believe that O’Neil was street racing alongside other vehicles.
Alex Nadolski, a motorist who was driving near the Ford Mustang when the accident occurred, sustained minor injuries when the vehicle’s detached headlight stuck Nadolski’s motorcycle, causing him to fall off the bike.
No further information was released, with no other serious injuries having been reported.
