Cary Police Department requests public’s assistance in identifying two Walgreens robbery suspects
CARY – On Wednesday, Feb. 16 at approximately 3:20 a.m., Cary Police officers were dispatched to a Walgreens located at 500 W. Northwest Highway in response to an activated burglar alarm.
Cary Police Deputy Chief Scott Naydenoff stated that officers en route to the location were advised by the security company monitoring the alarm and security system, of two male subjects who had broken the glass front door to enter into the business.
The two subjects were reported as leaving the Walgreens with unknown items a short time later following the break-in.
“Officers arrived on scene within 2 to 4 minutes of dispatch and found damage to a window on one side of the building consistent with an attempted entry point and broken glass on the front door,” said Naydenoff.
Upon reviewing the surveillance video, it was discovered that the two male subjects arrived and left the area in a black or dark-colored vehicle.
A hammer was used to break the glass to gain entry to the building, according to the Cary Police Department.
Both male subjects entered the store, caused damage inside the establishment, and stole various items estimated to be valued at approximately $2,000.
The damage to the business caused by the forced entry is estimated to be approximately $5,000.
The Cary Police Department describes the first robbery suspect as being a male of an unknown race who is between the ages of 20-30 years old.
The first suspect was wearing black pants and a dark-colored Tommy Hilfiger sweatshirt. He has brown hair that was being worn in a “bun” style with short sides at the time of the robbery.
The second suspect is also described as a male of an unknown race between the ages of 20-30 years old. He was seen wearing black pants and a dark-colored (possibly blue) Under Armour hoodie-style sweater.
The second suspect has long, dark-colored hair.
