HHS poised for boys FVC meet
HUNTLEY – The Red Raiders are gearing up or the boys track-and-field Fox Valley Conference meet, May 13 at Crystal Lake Central. Five days later, Huntley will host a Class 3A sectional.
Head coach Chris Maxedon summed up Huntley’s strengths.
“We will be looking to challenge the defending meet champion Burlington Central,” he said. “We are hoping to get healthy before the biggest part of our season. We have had some consistent performers for us all season; mainly seniors Evan Gronewold and Hayden Swim, but we have also gotten some solid performances of late from senior Charlie Kucz (800m), junior Jayden Bell (110 hurdles) and freshman Tommy Nitz (1600m and 3200m). These are all guys who could find their way to the IHSA State Track Meet over Memorial Day Weekend in Charleston on the campus of EIU.”
Gronewalld was victorious in the 400m in 50.80 at Minooka April 16. Swim finished second in the shot put that meet. As a team HHS ended in ninth place.
The Red Raiders finished a strong runner-up at the Lake Zurich meet April 21.
