HHS keeps lead in Fox Valley games
HUNTLEY – Huntley’s baseball squad won all three Fox Valley Conference games last week, sweeping Cary-Grove for a 9-1 league record as of April 28.
Huntley starting pitchers Andrew Ressler and Malachai Paplanus held the Trojans in check. Ressler struck out 13 hitters in six innings of work while allowing two hits. Paplanus pitched five innings and chalked up five strikeouts in a three-hitter.
“Ressler pitched extremely well in game one as well as Paplanus in game two,” HHS head coach Andy Jakubowski said.
At the plate, Brayden Bakes contributed a double, scored two runs and had two RBIs in the second game. Joe Garlin led with four RBIs on two hits in the first game.
“We ran the bases extremely well and swiped nine bags over the two-game set,” Jakubowski said.
The Red Raiders faced Waubomsie Valley on the road April 30. Waubonsie Valley held off a Huntley rally for a 12-11 non-conference win. HHS was 16-3 overall.
