Cary-Grove High School teacher recognized as a Chicago Bears Classroom Legend
CARY — Stephanie Sukow, an English teacher and instructional technology coach at Cary-Grove High School, was recently selected as a recipient of the Chicago Bears Classroom Legend award.
The Chicago Bears Classroom Legend program recognizes teachers each month from hundreds of nominations from around Chicagoland. The program spotlights educators who go above and beyond the day-to-day job.
Students lined the school’s hallways on April 27 to look on as Sukow was surprised by representatives from the Chicago Bears, including the team’s mascot Staley.
According to Cary-Grove High School, Sukow was nominated for the award by a parent of a past student who chose to remain anonymous.
The parent described Sukow as being a “role model, enthusiastic, so energetic in the classroom,” also making it a point to emphasize how much students enjoy coming to Sukow’s class.
“It’s really exciting to celebrate with people and I’m just very humbled by this award,” said Sukow in response to her nomination.
The Classroom Legends award includes a personalized Chicago Bears jersey, a personalized Chicago Bears football, two tickets to a Bears training camp this summer, and $1,000 to be used to purchase classroom necessities.
