
‘Sounds like Summer’ reading program begins
HUNTLEY — The Huntley Area Public Library will kick-off the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge, “It Sounds Like Summer” on Thursday, June 1. The annual summer reading program will run through July 31 and will commence with musical performances at the library’s east parking lot, at 11000 Ruth Road in Huntley. The schedule on Thursday will be:
9 a.m., library opens and registration begins.
11 a.m., Kona Ice, of McHenry County performs at the east parking lot.
11 a.m., Pan Chicago Steelband will perform songs of the Caribbean
3:30 p.m., Rockin’ and Reading with Leonardo Music brings a high energy show for families.
6 p.m., Karaoke for All Ages in program rooms.
The Huntley area community may participate in the free reading challenge using a paper log that can be picked up at the library from June 1 through June 30 or download and printed the library’s website at www.huntleylibrary.org.
The age groups are adults 18 and up; teens 12-18 and children birth to 12.
If library patrons wish to participate online with no paper log, just visit www.huntleylibrary.beanstack.com.
They can set up a free Beanstack account. You can register alone or enter the whole family under one account. If you already have a Beanstick account with the library, you can log in and begin the program June 1.
