HUNTLEY — The Huntley District 158 Education Foundation and the Village of Huntley will host the Sixth Annual Hootenanny 5K run-walk at the Huntley Town Square on Saturday, Sept. 9.
According to a District 158 press release, a record number of 3,300 participants, staff, parents, students and community members, have registered for this year’s event and more than $53,000 has been secured in sponsorships. The Hootenanny event will take place rain or shine and there will be no on-site registration. The 5K will start promptly at 7:15 p.m. All registered participants will receive a t-shirt and a goody bag.
The Huntley Hootenanny celebrates an exciting glow atmosphere to engage the community as they run or walk the course. The event will feature a light show, a DJ, and dance party. Huntley Town Square businesses will offer special food and treats. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 8:20 p.m.
“We are excited to have our community gather again this September for some great fun in support of an important cause,” Huntley D158 Education Foundation Executive Director Angela Kossaris said. “Our goal and mission is to raise as many funds as possible to fill classroom grants and student scholarships for continuing education.”
Through volunteer efforts and funding from individuals and businesses, the Education Foundation helps inspire teaching and learning by providing resources for innovative and creative instructional ideas that enrich and enhance educational programs and opportunities for students.
