Locascio saves best golf for last
HUNTLEY — Huntley’s boys golf team was led by a senior at the Class 3A Prospect Sectional Oct. 2.
Sam Locascio fired a round of 77 in the post-season meet at Mt. Prospect Golf Club. He just missed an individual state qualifying spot as the final qualifier shot a 76.
“Locascio had a career low today at the sectional,” Huntley coach Collin Kalamatas said. “We actually stuck around for about an hour and half after our guys were done because he had a chance at possibly playing in a playoff for the last spot to state. It didn’t work out but he played so well. We’re so proud of him. He played his best golf of his life in the last four weeks. It was great to see.”
“The end of the season is never easy for anyone but our boys and the coaches are proud of everything we did this year. It’s a fun group to be around. They really know how to go from being really competitive to be really goofy. It’s a good balance,” the coach said.
Fellow seniors Nate Elm and Nooa Hakala each shot 79s while sophomore Jeremy Chadwick ended with an 86 and sophomore Austin Mullen shot 92.
The Red Raiders finished eighth as a team with 321 strokes.
