Red Raiders bowling progress continues
HUNTLEY — Huntley’s boys bowling team continued to chalk up Kishwaukee-Fox Valley Conference alliance wins and gained a runner-up finish at a tournament.
The Red Raiders topped Grant Nov. 20 in a non-alliance meet, 3,330 to 3,307 pins. Austin Tenglin led with a 638 series followed by Joseph Humphrey’s 602. Matthew Fishman contributed a 548; Landen Conforti a 542; Noah Waters a 508 and Matthew Hoglind had a 492.
Huntley beat Woodstock, 3,916 to 3,521 pins at Bowl-Hi Lanes Nov. 22. Tenglin led with a 682 series; Nick Gaspari rolled a 279 final high game and a 674 series; Fishman contributed a 660; Waters a 644; Conforti had a 638 and Humphrey a 618.
“We had a great week bowling last week,” HHS coach Jacob Wagner said. “Starting with a victory at Grant in non conference competition. Then Wednesday we had a conference match up against a really strong Woodstock team. Every bowler on Huntley’s varsity Wednesday rolled a 600 series or higher. Gaspari came out huge in game two with a 279 game. Tenglin ended up with highest series for Huntley at 682. The boys are really grinding the games out and staying focused this season on their goals.”
The Red Raiders were strong at a Machesney Park Harlem tournament Nov. 25.
“Saturday we traveled to the Harlem invite which was a loaded field,” Wagner said. “Humphrey finished fifth and Fishman finished seventh overall individually. The boys shot a team best tournament score of 6,099 to finish second behind the host Harlem boys team. Huntley had a strong morning shooting 2,990 holding a top five score going into lunch. Huntley came out really hot in the afternoon shooting over 1,100 in game four and a total 3,100 in the afternoon to secure second.”
