Update: Missing cat lost during a house fire has been found; Community continues to rally around displaced family
HUNTLEY — As previously reported, a house on the 10900 block of Heartland Lane in the Wing Pointe subdivision was badly damaged as a result of a fire that took place on Oct. 13. While no one was injured in the incident, the Brannan family were left displaced and did not know the whereabouts of their beloved cat, Mac.
Despite the loss of their home, things would soon take a positive turn for the family on Oct. 18, when Mac was found hiding inside a wall of their house. According to a family friend, Michelle Rankin, Mac was taken to an immediate care clinic to have his vitals checked and is currently doing well.
Rankin also added that while the family waits on their insurance, they have put together a list of items they need for neighbors interested in assisting the family.
“This list will help them get through this in-between time while they stay with family and will help restart their kitchen when they have their own place,” Rankin stated via Facebook.
The list for the family is posted on SignUpGenius and can be found by visiting www.bit.ly/heartlandfire. The family also created an Amazon wish list which can be found at a.co/3Y8gsxr. Items purchased from the Amazon list will be shipped directly to the family.
