One suspect involved in a Woodstock gas station robbery sentenced to 12 years in prison
WOODSTOCK — The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office announced that Rosendo Pacheco, 19, of Beloit, Wisconsin, was recently sentenced to serve 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) after entering a plea of guilty to a charge of armed robbery, a Class X felony. Pacheco was sentenced by McHenry County Judge Mark R. Gerhardt on Jan. 17.
As previously reported, back on July 10, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the Woodstock Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at a Circle K convenience store located at 155 Eastwood Drive. Authorities state that Pacheco and two other masked subjects entered the store while a fourth individual remained in the driver’s seat of their getaway vehicle.
After entering the store, the three suspects displayed firearms and proceeded to demand cash from the only Circle K clerk on duty at the time of the incident. Having obtained cash and other store merchandise, the three suspects exited Circle K and fled northbound in the vehicle they arrived in.
While the Woodstock Police Department was unable to locate the getaway vehicle that day, on July 12, 2022, the car was found in West Allis, Wisconsin after being involved in a hit-and-run accident.
Pacheco and the two other male suspects who were responsible for the Circle K robbery and multiple other robberies of similar businesses in neighboring counties were subsequently taken into custody by the West Allis Police Department. A fourth subject in the car was able to elude capture by authorities.
According to the Woodstock Police Department, Pacheco and the two other individuals were all juveniles at the time of the incident and were eventually released to their parents by the West Allis Police Department who were not aware of the armed robbery that was being investigated in Woodstock at the time of their release.
McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese commends the investigative efforts of the Woodstock Police Department, along with the collaborative efforts of Rockford Police and West Allis Police Departments in assisting with the identification and apprehension of Pacheco. The case was successfully prosecuted by McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Ashur Y. Youash.
