The McHenry County Board looks to fill a vacancy
MCHENRY COUNTY – Jeff Schwartz of rural McHenry is described as a job creator, just the type of person McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Buehler had looked for to replace the late Chuck Wheeler for District 4. Wheeler passed away on November 12, 2020. Wheeler had served since 2014. The district covers much of the northern part of McHenry County including all or parts of McHenry, Fox Lake and Johnsburg.
Buehler made the announcement after his committee completed reviews of 10 applicants over several weeks. He said the committee had fantastic candidates to choose from.
“Jeff Schwartz is a community anchor whose ability to work with others is well-known to the business community,” Buehler said. “His insights into small business, manufacturing and job growth, forged by a lifetime of success, will make him a valuable addition to the McHenry County Board.”
On Tuesday, January 19, the County Board will vote on Schwartz’s nomination. If he is approved by the board, Schwartz will add experience in business and economic development to the board. A graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School and a resident of rural McHenry, Schwartz owns Schwartz Performance in Woodstock. The company has a workforce of 20 people who build muscle cars and parts for customers worldwide. His background in business includes having served as plant manager of General Kinematics in Crystal Lake, chairman of the McHenry County Industrial Council, and as a board member of the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation. Schwartz is also a member of the motocross restoration and racing community and founder of the Schwartz Motocross History Museum.
McHenry County Board meetings are held virtually on the Meeting Portal on the county website at www.mchenrycountyil.gov.
