As previously reported in My Huntley News, Henry Patel, owner and president of Woodstock Hotel, Inc., wrote a letter to village staff stating that delays caused by “subcontractor and equipment provider supply chain issues,” due to the pandemic were once again the reasons for their request of an additional extension of time.

According to the June 9 Board Meeting agenda packet, Rodriguez had purchased the property in late 2020 and had the intention of opening a second Antigua Mexican Grill location in Huntley, but ultimately decided to open a restaurant in Algonquin instead.

Rainfall wasn’t enough to deter a large crowd of community members from gathering outside of the Huntley Area Public Library’s (HAPL) main entrance for its official ribbon-cutting ceremony that took place on June 8.

K9 Blitz had served as Officer Jason Caudle’s partner for almost six years and was about to turn eight on June 16.

According to the Carpentersville Police Department, Blitz was a pure-bred German Shepherd who was born in the Czech Republic and was specifically bred and trained to work as a police K9.

Blitz was brought to the U.S. when he was around 16-months-old, where he received his first 12 weeks of training at TOPS Kennel in Grayslake through their police K9 training program.

Huntley’s Walmart remained open during the remodeling phase much to the dismay of some customers who had to get used to a new layout as the location of products shifted to new areas of the store.

“So, first of all, I promise that nothing is moving now for five years,” Walmart Store Manager Jim Hattendorf stated during a Facebook Live video.

The program serves people 65 and over, individuals with disabilities, and low-income residents, according to the Kane County Government.

As of current, the program provides 24/7 transportation to qualified residents for a cash fare of $5 for the first 10 miles of a trip. The service works in partnership with Pace Suburban Bus, local municipalities, townships, and social service agencies.

In addition to his outdoor dining request, Zielinski also asked the Liquor Commission for an amendment to his establishment’s Class “A” liquor license, which would allow Bowl-Hi Lanes to serve alcohol outside.

Patrons would then be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages within the proposed outdoor tent area and an adjacent area enclosed with a temporary split rail fencing similar to what Hi-Bowl Lanes did under the village’s Temporary Dining program that was set in place during the peak of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

On March 10, village trustees agreed to sell the southern portion of the fire station property to developer Billitteri Enterprises, LLC.

In addition, trustees approved the final Planned Unit Development (PUD) that would allow Billitteri Enterprises the redevelopment and use of the property, which would consist of the construction of an approximately 5,181-square foot ground floor D.C.

As residents may recall, On April 14, village trustees unanimously voted in favor of approving a Purchase and Sale Agreement, Redevelopment Agreement, and Planned Unit Development (PUD) for the property to accommodate the residential use of the building, which will include converting the building to 37 total apartment units.

Back in February, Village President Ray Bogdanowski signed a Monarch Pledge proclamation to help promote the conservation of monarch butterflies and other pollinators, according to the club.

Last year, the Rotary Club of Lake in the Hills joined Operation Pollination, which has the same mission as that proclaimed by Bogdanowski and the village.

“You may have noticed we have increased our presence at the schools this week. In addition to the full-time School Resource Officer who is assigned to the Harmony Road Campus, additional officers will be at Huntley High School and Leggee Elementary for the remainder of the week out of an abundance of caution,” stated the Huntley Police Department on May 26.

The dog was shot and killed by Hal Phipps, who is the husband of current Wayne Village President Eileen Phipps and the neighbor of Ludwig’s owner, Joe Petit.

Phipps told authorities that on the day of the incident, he was on his property when he was approached by Ludwig and Petit’s other Dogo Argentino named Philotimo.

Although no action was required to be taken by the trustees at the May 12 meeting, trustees were not shy about expressing their honest opinions and in some cases, frustration regarding the restaurant.

Following a presentation of the conceptual plans, Trustee Harry Leopold was the first speaker on the floor, stating that he’s been waiting to hear about plans for the Panera restaurant since 2013.

The first fire personnel arrived on the scene at approximately 3:34 a.m. and reported seeing heavy smoke from the rear and the roof of the residence.

The East Dundee Police Department also reported the presence of heavy smoke and possible flames inside the wall.

A crew that included 27 firefighters from the Carpentersville, West Dundee, Rutland-Dundee, and Algonquin Fire Departments pulled a hose line and began to extinguish the fire on the rear of the structure.

According to Hain, on March 9, Jose Bosque Jr. and his son, Jose Bosque III, were in the Elgin area when they happened to cross paths with Kane County Deputy Matt Drab.

Drab was struggling to detain a driver that had taken off from a traffic stop and had also briefly grabbed Drab’s Taser.
