“My family is spread over three states and this grandma just wants to spend more time with my kids and grandkids. I have worked for municipalities for about 28 years and full-time totally for 44 years — it is time,” Read told My Huntley News.

Read first began working as the permit coordinator for Huntley, however, in January 2007, she utilized her prior experience working in planning departments at other villages to move to the position of management assistant for Huntley’s Village Manager’s Office.

The victim has since been identified as 20-year-old Joseph “Joe” Zephries of Huntley. Aggravated criminal sexual assault armed with a dangerous weapon other than a firearm, a Class X felony; aggravated criminal sexual assault that acts in a manner that threatens the life of the victim, a Class X felony; aggravated domestic battery involving strangulation, a Class 2 felony; and aggravated unlawful restraint, a Class 3 felony.
