CLUB 400 AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS PRESENT JOE MADDON

LAKE IN THE HILLS — On Thursday, August 17, 2023, Club 400 in partnership with Special Olympics is hosting a fundraiser to help raise money Special Olympics. The $200 ticket for the event includes a meet and greet with 2016 World Champion Manager Joe Maddon, a autographed copy of “The Book of Joe”, Joe Maddon’s recent book, an autographed replica of a lineup card from Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, a professional photo with Joe
Maddon, a pig roast, food and drinks.

Good cheer and fun at the Beer Mile Run

Make history and have fun at the first annual Beer Mile Run on Saturday, July 29.

This outdoor event is open to the public and is hosted by the Huntley Historical Society and Sew Hop’d Brewery at the Sew Hop’d Brewery location, 1 Union Special Plaza, Huntley. The mile-long race starts at 12 p.m., so come out, get set, and cheer on the “chugging” runners! However, the fun is just getting a good start at the finish line…Mingle with friends on the historical property while enjoying tasty food truck fare, live music, and specialty crafted brews.

Huntley among the 2023 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Awardees

HUNTLEY — The U.S. Department of Education announced today that Huntley Community School District 158 in Huntley, Illinois is among the 2023 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School District Sustainability Awardees. Huntley Community School District 158 (Huntley 158) was nominated by the Illinois State Board of Education. The vision of sustainability and environmental awareness that has come to define Huntley 158 began nearly 14 years ago. The district prioritizes energy efficiency, which has led to an annual reduction in energy costs by more than half.

MCDH encourages prevention as norovirus outbreaks increase

McHENRY COUNTY — The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) reports an increase in norovirus outbreaks and encourages people to take action to prevent the spread of the virus.

Norovirus is highly contagious, spreads quickly from person to person and cannot be treated with antibiotics. Symptoms of norovirus include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach pain that usually last between 24 hours and 48 hours. Anyone with norovirus illness should stay home when sick and for 24 hours after experiencing vomiting or diarrhea.

McHenry County Libraries encourage visits with the Library Lover’s Expedition

HUNTLEY – In February, McHenry County Youth Librarians are encouraging residents to get out and discover the wealth of resources available in county libraries. To celebrate Library Lovers Month, the McHenry County Library Lover’s Expedition begins February 1 and is open to all residents of the county and surrounding areas. A library card is not required to participate.

Every library in McHenry County offers materials to check out, but their offerings are not limited to books and movies. “We are hoping people will venture out and explore more of McHenry County.
