The Red Raiders totaled 5,475 pins at the regional. The meet champion was Yorkville, followed by Oswego East and Oswego High School as the other sectional qualifiers. The Huntley squad moves on to the Oregon sectional at Plum Hollow Family Center in Dixon on Feb. 15.

“We really buckled down the second half to get into the sectional,” Huntley coach Eric DeBello said.

Huntley downed Jacobs, 61-58 Jan. 31, then trounced Crystal Lake Central, 53-26, Feb. 4. The Red Raiders stood at 11-14 overall, 6-7 FVC. Huntley is at Burlington Central Feb. 7 and Crystal Lake South Feb. 11.

The Red Raiders came out firing on all cylinders, to the tune of 11 and then 21 points leads at Jacobs. This was on the strength of 12 3-pointers.

The Red Raiders reached 27-0 overall, 14-0 FVC record with a 64-28 triumph at Crystal Lake South Feb. 5. Upcoming games to end the regular season: Huntley hosts McHenry Feb. 10 for senior night, Prairie Ridge Feb. 12 and Dundee-Crown Feb. 14.

Four Red Raiders had double digit scoring in the win over Crystal Lake South. Aubrina Adamik led with 15 points.

Both the Huntley Police Department (HPD) and Kane County Sheriff's Office have issued press release statements ahead of the Feb. 9 Super Bowl LIX clash between Kansas City and Philadelphia.

“If your Super Bowl celebration involves alcohol or cannabis, plan for a safe ride home with a sober driver,” Huntley Police Department Deputy Chief Kevin Keane said in the HPD press release statement.

The Red Raiders put together a solid second day of matches at Hampshire on Feb. 1. HHS totaled 150 points to Wheeling's 140 and Woodstock's 131.5.

Senior 130-pound repeat champion and state qualifier in 2024, Aubrie Rohrbacher, will lead the group of seven Huntley individual qualifiers to sectional, Feb. 14 and 15 at Schaumburg.

The Red Raiders concluded the season in eighth place Feb. 1, a one spot improvement from the first day at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon. Huntley's final team score was 11,950 total pins. Waters, a sophomore, finished with 1,227 pins.

Seniors Austin Tenglin was next with 2,410 total for 53rd place; Matt Fishman ended with 2,377, 59th and Landen Conforti had 2,276 for 69th.

The day “recognizes women's contributions to sports and society,” according to its mission. From tennis legend Billie Jean King (who leads the NGW Foundation), to University of Tennnsee women's basketball coach Pat Head Summitt, to gymnast Simone Biles and present hoops star Caitlyn Clark, female athletes have had strong role models.

Visitors may be interested to view a Woly Mammoth tooth, a switchboard for a telephone company, baseball teams in McHenry County or maybe how residents handled the Great Depression. Information on all of those items and more can be found at the museum. It is located at 6422 Main St., Union. The MCHS Museum hosted a Saturday morning Hot Chocolate and History Day event Jan.

The Red Raiders concluded with a team score of 6,075 total pins. This was 67 pins ahead of fifth place Jacksonville. Machesney Park Harlem won the team championship at Plum Hollow Family Center in Dixon, Ill.  The IHSA State Boys Bowling meet is Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon.

HHS senior Joe Humphrey led the way with a 1,307 total final, 278 best game.

In Chicago, that number is 23. Sports fans can easily recite the “A” list: Hall of Famers Bulls legend Michael Jordan; Cubs 1984 hero  Ryne Sandberg and Bears kick returner Devin Hester. Add to that Robin Ventura and Jermaine Dye of the White Sox.

For Huntley girls basketball fans, the “23” means a winning streak of historic measure. It is the current run after a 49-34 win against its strongest Fox Valley Conference foe, Cary-Grove, Jan.

Huntley senior Sheldon Aninagyei Bonsu swished five 3-pointers in the second half of a Fox Valley Conference clash. He scored 21 points as the Red Raiders edged the Trojans 58-52 Jan. 24. The Red Raiders improved to 9-12 overall, 4-6 FVC.

A 26-points third quarter turned the tide as the Red Raiders went from being behind by five points to ahead by as many as 14.

Varsity squad seniors, who have led the team to a 12-0 record in dual meets are: Jana Boudreau, Prianca Waters and Erica DeBello. Junior varsity contributors are Isabella Kurash, Hannah Asemota and Adyson May. Erica DeBello became the first HHS girls bowler to commit to a Division I university when she recently chose Wichita State University.

Rohrbacher notched a quick victory for the Huntley girls wrestling team in a dual match against McHenry Jan. 16, her 103rd career victory in three seasons. Following the battle with the Warriors, the Red Raiders junior and team leader at 130 pounds received accolades for her achievement of 100 career wins.

The match when the accomplishment happened took place Dec. 21, at the IWCOA duals with a fall against a Morton opponent.

The latest examples came with two 50-point plus margins of victory, 74-17 over Burlington Central Jan. 10 and a follow-up 59-8 cruise control win at McHenry Jan. 14. HHS, ranked sixth by the Associated Press, was 18-0, 7-0 Fox Valley Conference after the win over the Warriors.

“Our depth has been the biggest reason for our success,” Huntley coach Steve Raethz said after the McHenry game. 

Erica DeBello, daughter of head coach Eric DeBello and Trish DeBello, recently committed to attend Wichita State University, (WSU) a D-1 school in Wichita, Kansas.

"I visited the school for my official visit Dec. 15," Erica DeBello said. "I had seen it before, but it was 10 times better this time. I was also considering Belmont, North Carolina. I know going into next season, I'll have a lot of work to do to work on in the post-season."

Red Raiders coach Jacob Wagner was pleased with the team's efforts at Kingston Lanes in Woodstock Jan. 10. HHS was led by tournament champion Matt Fishman's 1,355 final score. Huntley and several area teams are preparing for the IHSA boys bowling regional at Glo-Bowl in Marengo Jan. 18.

For Fishman, the league meet title came after a recent decision to bowl at Judson University, a community college in Elgin, next season. 

The team's senior day was held Jan. 7 at Bowl-Hi Lanes when they faced Harvard. The Class of 2025 Red Raiders bowlers – Matthew Fishman, Austin Tenglin, Joe Humphrey, Nicholas Gaspari, Landen Conforti, Ryan Morahan and Mason Quarrie, were honored.

Huntley took a season lead into the Kishwaukee River Conference-Fox Valley Conference tournament, Jan.

Leading the way is a 16-0 record to start the season.

Also among the achievements: HHS has won their first Dundee-Crown Koromary Classic tournament with a thrilling 49-48 win over Maine South Dec. 30; edged state-ranked Prospect, 55-51 Jan. 4 and routed Crystal Lake South, 69-25 Jan. 7 to gain sole possession of first place in the Fox Valley Conference.

The squad gained a Class 4A 10th ranking recently.

The Red Raiders made it a four-game win streak with a 51-40 non-conference triumph over Rockton Hononegah Jan. 4. This win followed three victories at the DeKalb Chuck Dayton tournament. With the latest wins, the Red Raiders reached .500 at 7-7 overall.

Huntley hosts FVC rivals Crystal Lake South Jan. 8 and Burlington Central on Jan. 10. CLS and Huntley are tied for second place behind McHenry (4-0 FVC) with 3-1 records.

Huntley's dual match record stood at 14-2, 4-0 Fox Valley Conference. It added four more wins at its own mega duals Dec. 28. HHS beat Bolingbrook 57-17,  Morris 53-20, Mundelein Carmel 60-8 and Wheaton North 46-23.

Returning IHSA State Qualifier Radic Dvorak, 157 pounds, is 24-3 and ranked third by Illinois Best Weekly.

They attended the monthly Chi-Town Sports Trivia Group, organized by Bill and Sue McMahon of Sun City. The Jan. 3 event at a library program room marked the group's one-year anniversary. Professional sports teams the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks were topics of questions that the teams answer, and a general Chicago sports category, with 30 questions in total.
