"We have a lot of young new talent and every game that we play we get closer and closer as a team," Huntley coach Joe Domka said.

"The auction is our primary source of fundraising for spring," HHS Booster Club President Shannon Corso said. "Every ounce of funds raised will go directly back to our student athletes in one form or another."

Auction items that could draw interest, club officials said, include several "basket" prizes: golf course prizes for foursomes packages to six different area golf courses; reserved student parking spots; BBQ baskets; gym memberships; sporting events and museums; many baskets with gift cards to local establishments.

At the April 13 meeting, trustees voted to authorize a bid award to Arrow Construction for $3,773,128. The street improvements will be in the Del Webb's Sun City area and were scheduled to begin April 17. Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital will join the Huntley Police Department for an event for community members from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on April 22, at the hospital's Huntley campus, Medical Office Building No. 1, 10350 Haligus Road, Huntley.

The event aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused opioids and other prescription medications, while also educating the general public about the potential for misuse of medications.

The Red Raiders improved to 10-1 on the season, gained two Fox Valley Conference victories and a milestone win for their head coach Andy Jakubowski. HHS improved to 3-1 FVC as it downed McHenry 13-6, Crystal Lake Central 4-3 in eight innings and Prairie Ridge 15-3 April 12.

The final win of the trio secured the 400th win in 600 games at Huntley for Jakubowski. He moved up Jacobs.

"The Springfield trip was a great experience for our team," HHS girls track coach Jason Monson said. "It was a great opportunity to travel with a large varsity team and simulate the process of an overnight stay and competition, similar to the state meet.

"Our focus is on all of the new things to explore at the library and from home," HAPL Director of Marketing Doug Cataldo said. "We have recorded several of our patrons and partners telling us their stories about the library and we'll be sharing them that week."

HAPL patrons have been enjoying the library's expansion now a year old at its Ruth Road location.

"I contacted Huntley Area Public Library because they had a club before," Bhatt said. "They were having a renovation project and told me to contact them when it was done."

Bhatt did just that and because of his interest in chess, and some adult helpers, some 30 8-12 year olds matched moves on the chess board at the bi-monthly Chess Club Wednesday night meeting.

The EmergencyCommunications Center (ECC) is looking to add to its Public Safety Telecommunications staff.

"We're looking for someone over 18-years old, who will be able to handle a high-stress situations, independently as well as a team. We provide a 16-week course which gives a new hire all the skills they will need," SEECOM Executive Director Jason Kern said.

"I play tennis year-round," Hein said. "I'm excited for the season and want to help the young guys on the team. We have a great future."

Hein and No. 1 doubles partner Matt Grubbs qualified for the Class 2A State Tennis Meet last season. This season he is teamed with senior Jon Stec in the doubles lineup.
