Residents may already be familiar with the Salvation Army’s fundraising efforts that come in the form of bell ringers standing beside that all too familiar red kettle.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church (RCLPC) located on 8505 Church Street in Ridgefield (east of McHenry County College) will have the pleasure of inviting locals to get their fill of delicious holiday cookies from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

This will be the church’s 29th annual “Cookie Walk” where individuals are given a cookie box and then have the opportunity to take their pick from a wide variety of cookies to take home with them.

According to the White House, the Biden administration plans to work with the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to develop a rule through Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) that will require all employers with 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated.

Refuge for Women is a non-profit, faith based organization that provides emergency and long-term housing to women who have escaped human trafficking or sexual exploitation. The Chicagoland area program home, in an undisclosed location in the McHenry County area, opened in 2016 and is one of 11 program homes across the U.S.

Tiffany Bieniek: “I do not like anything pumpkin except for pumpkin seeds. I don’t care for pumpkin flavor in anything, but I do love the pumpkin scents. I love the candles at this time of year with the pumpkin smell.”

Franzen, based in Hanover Park, prides himself on being a versatile artist — he is an illustrator who also paints and works in metal, wood, and glass.

Three years ago, he discovered another medium for his art: pumpkins.

The lawsuit was filed in Macoupin County with the group of parents being represented by attorneys Thomas DeVore, Jeffery Mollet, and Erik Hyam from the Silver Lake Group law firm.

The event is meant to shine a light on the importance of after school programming.

According to the All About Theater website, Disney’s Moana Jr. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, Moana.

Following the hospital’s decision not to renew its decades-long contract with United Anesthesia Associates, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) moved towards downgrading Advocate Sherman Hospital’s status as an Illinois Designated Level II Trauma Center in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Region nine, on Sep.

The Parent Union originated as a private Facebook group back in 2020 to provide a space for parents to discuss pandemic-related matters occurring within Huntley Community School District 158, according to D158 Parent Union member Jill Cataldo.

Since that time, the Facebook group has branched out to be more open to the public.

Cataldo shared that over 100 people attended the Parent Union picnic where individuals got an opportunity to enjoy some outdoor fun while discussing topics of concern at D158.

Northwestern Medicine will host six collection sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.

These collection sites will allow community members to safely dispose of their unused medications in a drive-up fashion.

Jill Edgeworth, the media relations manager for Northwestern Medicine, said in an Oct. 6 press release that “unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to potential accidental poisoning, misuse, and overdose.”

The new Executive Order features updated language for “Exclusion Mandates for Confirmed, Probable, and Close Contacts of COVID-19 Cases in Schools.”

In light of Attorney Tom DeVore winning several court cases where school districts excluded students without a court-ordered quarantine, the new Executive Order clarified that schools have the authority “to refuse admittance to the School premises, extracurricular events or any other events organized by the School, regardless of whether an isolation or quarantine order issued by a local health department has expired or has not been issued.”

The fifteen residents in attendance were fewer than half of the attendees at the regular Board of Trustees meeting that was held on September 14. This special meeting had a 48-hour advance notification, which is all that was required by State laws.

Once Deputy Supervisor Janet Siers opened the meeting for public comment she recognized Adeline Lewis, a township activist.

“Our quarantines are almost exclusively coming from the bus and the cafeteria where we can’t maintain that three feet of separation on the bus and masks are off for 15 minutes if you’re within six feet. We’ve made adjustments to the elementary level to spread our students out to reduce that at the elementary level but the secondary level is simply not possible to be six feet apart due to the size of our buildings,” said Rowe.

Daniel Campbell, the managing director of the Opera House, was finally able to share the outcome of that survey.

The results demonstrate that more than 85% of responding patrons have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and more than 50% agree that proper health and safety precautions, such as masking, vaccinations, or COVID test requirements would further encourage participation in events and activities at the Opera House.

McHenry County proclaimed the month of October Disability Employment Awareness Month in solidarity with the Federal Government and other agencies across the nation.
