Huntley resident arrested on five counts of child pornography
According to Huntley Police Deputy Chief Kevin Keane, after receiving the information, the Huntley Police’s Investigations Division worked extensively to eventually identify the offender as Jordan K. Hein, 25, of 10395 Sawgrass Lane.
In the early morning hours of March 12, Huntley Police officers served a search warrant for Hein’s residence.
March 5 set for D-158 strategic plan talks
According to a press release statement from D-158 Director of Communications and Public Engagement Denise Barr, the new strategic plan, “Huntley 2030: Building Tomorrow Together”, will be rooted in collaboration, and aims to reflect feedback, thoughts and ideas from all stakeholders — families, students, educators/staff, and community members.
Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announces scholarship opportunities for the 2025-26 school year
The scholarships can only be applied to tuition, books, and school fees. The student must also be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Online learning at an Illinois-based school is also acceptable.
In addition to the ISA scholarship, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain announced that he will be awarding one scholarship of $500.

According to authorities, Schlight, a long-time resident of Oregon, would visit friends in Port Barrington multiple times between 2014 and 2018. During his visits, Schlight inappropriately touched a young girl repeatedly when she was between the ages of six and 10.
One suspect involved in a Woodstock gas station robbery sentenced to 12 years in prison
As previously reported, back on July 10, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers from the Woodstock Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at a Circle K convenience store located at 155 Eastwood Drive.
Arrest warrants issued for two men involved in gravestone thefts
Authorities state that each decorative vase ranged in value of approximately $200-$900 each. Once the report was made, the McHenry County Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the incident.
In collaboration with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the McHenry County States Attorney’s Office, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify Fermin Tonche Gallardo, 30, of Waukegan and Marcos Mendez, 41, also of Waukegan as the suspects in the theft of the vases.

At the time of the incident, the identity of the victim was not shared with the public, however, one of the woman’s daughters, Tiffany Drinkwater, came forward on social media to share that the deceased individual was her mother.
Huntley Community School District 158 announces new location for its LIGHT program
Staff, students, families, and community members are invited to attend the event at 10401 Vine Street in Huntley. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m. After the ceremony, attendees will be able to tour the facility and learn about the new space.
Fundraiser started to help Huntley family displaced by house fire
Once at the scene, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames had engulfed the rear end of the home belonging to the Brannan family. Heavy winds that day accelerated the fire’s intensity causing flames to spread quickly into the attic. Despite the situation being under control within 20 minutes, fire officials deemed the home uninhabitable.

Huntley woman dies after car accident in Carpentersville
According to authorities, the victim’s car was traveling northbound on Randall Road when she attempted to make a left turn (westbound) onto Binnie Road. Witnesses state that a black SUV that was traveling southbound on Randall Road ran a red light and struck the victim’s vehicle.
McHenry woman arrested months after fatal hit-and-run incident released from jail
Police identified the suspect as 50-year-old Christine S. Eilers (Pine) of McHenry. After warrants were obtained for her arrest, Eilers was taken into custody on Jan. 6 without incident. She was transported to the McHenry County jail in Woodstock.
Village Board to consider a special use permit for a drive-through Smoothie King
According to village staff, Ordinance (O)2023-06.28 provided the final PUD (Planned Unit Development) approval and a special use permit for the drive-through food service establishment. However, circumstances have changed as the lot’s owner, Amit Patel, is no longer moving forward with The Human Bean in that tenant space.
Christmas trees to Santa arrival make a merry day
The Saturday fun began with contestants in the Christmas tree display putting the finishing touches on their entrants. It ended just past sundown when Santa Claus made his grand entrance, followed by Huntley Mayor Tim Hoeft flipping the switch for the Christas light display and then fireworks rounded out the day.
