The interesting color given off by these streetlights isn’t on purpose, however, and it’s not just Huntley that has had this phenomenon overtake its lights.

Various surrounding villages and towns have also reported their own fair share of what once were white LED streetlights, turning purple after a few months.

According to some experts, this happens due to a filter failure which causes the normally white-hued lights to turn purple over time after being exposed to certain environmental conditions.

According to the Huntley Police Department, Zoellick was killed in action during the Korean War when he was only 18 years old.

Heuck was a long-time educator and physical education department chair at the district, who unfortunately lost her battle with breast cancer last fall.

Through fundraising efforts during October, Huntley Community School District 158 (D158) will be working to raise money to benefit a scholarship in Heuck’s name.

According to the district, the scholarship will be awarded by the Education Foundation and will be given to an HHS student who shows an interest in the field of education.

Upon arrival, authorities located a suspect vehicle fleeing the area, which resulted in a brief pursuit. The suspect vehicle became disabled after having crashed on Burma Road south of West Grant Highway.

Following the crash, the suspects were able to flee the scene of the accident.
