ELGIN - On Jan. 23, Elgin Police officers responded to the 1300 block of Eagle Road at around 4:12 a.m. for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located two subjects with injuries. One of the subjects was subsequently transported to an area hospital. The other subject, who was later identified as one of the offenders, had an injury that did not require medical treatment.
A couple of days following the incident, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced that 18-year-old Jesus Canales of Elgin was being charged with the following offenses:
Aggravated Battery with a firearm, a Class X felony; Armed Violence, a Class X felony; Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 1 felony; two counts of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 4 felony; Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Class 4 felony; Unlawful Use of a Firearm without Firearm Owners Identification, a Class 4 felony; and Mob Action, a Class 4 felony.
