Northwestern Medicine will host six collection sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23.

These collection sites will allow community members to safely dispose of their unused medications in a drive-up fashion.

Jill Edgeworth, the media relations manager for Northwestern Medicine, said in an Oct. 6 press release that “unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to potential accidental poisoning, misuse, and overdose.”

Alongside their written update, Tipsy’s also shared a picture of the exterior of their building showing that the front glass door had been shattered open and was being temporarily covered by a wooden board.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) dispatched deputies to the scene at approximately 5:21 p.m. when a resident notified the department of zebra sightings, said KCSO Chief Deputy Patrick Gengler.

Ruben Campuzano, 47, of the 500 block of Harrison Street in Elgin, was taken into custody as the offender responsible for the hit and run accident after detectives pursued a lead on Sep. 16 from an independent witness.

Siwula was transported to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The new Executive Order features updated language for “Exclusion Mandates for Confirmed, Probable, and Close Contacts of COVID-19 Cases in Schools.”

In light of Attorney Tom DeVore winning several court cases where school districts excluded students without a court-ordered quarantine, the new Executive Order clarified that schools have the authority “to refuse admittance to the School premises, extracurricular events or any other events organized by the School, regardless of whether an isolation or quarantine order issued by a local health department has expired or has not been issued.”

The fifteen residents in attendance were fewer than half of the attendees at the regular Board of Trustees meeting that was held on September 14. This special meeting had a 48-hour advance notification, which is all that was required by State laws.

Once Deputy Supervisor Janet Siers opened the meeting for public comment she recognized Adeline Lewis, a township activist.

“Our quarantines are almost exclusively coming from the bus and the cafeteria where we can’t maintain that three feet of separation on the bus and masks are off for 15 minutes if you’re within six feet. We’ve made adjustments to the elementary level to spread our students out to reduce that at the elementary level but the secondary level is simply not possible to be six feet apart due to the size of our buildings,” said Rowe.

Transportation services and dismissal were postponed, with the Huntley Police Department stating that access to the campus was not being permitted at that time.

Rumors began circulating from concerned parents about a student’s mother that had supposedly contacted Huntley High School administrators making claims of a student that had brought a gun into the building.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers discovered a juvenile male victim that had been struck by gunfire four times. The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Elgin Police Department released an update on Oct.

Daniel Campbell, the managing director of the Opera House, was finally able to share the outcome of that survey.

The results demonstrate that more than 85% of responding patrons have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and more than 50% agree that proper health and safety precautions, such as masking, vaccinations, or COVID test requirements would further encourage participation in events and activities at the Opera House.

MCDH had first announced the county’s first mass vaccination clinic’s opening on Feb. 19, repurposing the building that had been vacant for 12 years.

The clinic offered vaccinations by appointment only to begin, but as vaccine supply increased throughout the county, walk-in vaccinations became available.

Battery sizes AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt from residential sources will be accepted at no cost. Residents may drop off their single-use non-rechargeable batteries at the MCDH Division of Environmental Health office, 667 Ware Rd, Suite 110, in Woodstock.  A mask must be worn to enter the building.

Batteries will be accepted from October 4 until October 8 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.

Jan Siers is a 50-year resident of Rutland Township. She was appointed Trustee in May, 2021 as the board was short one Trustee. Her term expires in 2025.

Ronda Goldman is a Sun City resident and Village of Huntley Trustee, which she has been since 2013. Her term also expires in May 2025.

Goldman is alleging multiple issues with the Township Board’s operation.

Approximately 50 students joined Huntley High School senior and walkout organizer Adi Anderson in the quest to highlight issues surrounding the topic of sexual harassment.

Anderson explained that she and a group of her friends have spoken previously to Huntley High School administrators about being sexually harassed while at school.

“The way that the school handled it and other stories that we’ve heard how the school handled other cases, we believe have been unreasonable,” Anderson told My Huntley News.

The Huntley Police Department released a report last week stating that Wojt was ejected from his vehicle and found deceased near the water.

On Sep. 20, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office announced via a press release, that preliminary findings of an autopsy showed Wojt’s cause of death was due to blunt force trauma.
