Kane County Sheriff’s Office arrests driver responsible for a serious hit and run accident
Campuzano was responsible for a Sep. 13 hit and run accident which resulted in serious injuries for 72-year-old St. Charles resident Ron Siwula.
Siwula was traveling north on Route 25 on his 2020 Harley Davidson three-wheeled motorcycle when he proceeded to stop at a red light at the intersection of Gilbert Street in unincorporated St.
Randall Road Corridor Improvement project’s completion to be celebrated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony
According to the Randall Road information website, all lanes on Randall Road were officially opened for travel on Sep. 1 except for some miscellaneous work and landscaping being completed over a few weeks.
The website also states that the McHenry County Division of Transportation “identified the Randall Road Improvements as one of the key projects needed to relieve congestion in this heavily traveled north/south corridor of the County.”
Village of Huntley approves a temporary COVID-19 testing site
A Center for COVID Control representative stated that as of current, they operate approximately 90 testing sites throughout the Chicagoland area and in other states.
Their nearest testing site to Huntley is located on Randall Road in Algonquin behind Wendy’s.

Chipkin, a Huntley resident, had just learned about gestation crates: small, confined spaces where pigs being raised for pork are kept during their four-month pregnancies.
“These crates are so small that [the sow] can’t even stretch her limbs, let alone turn around or walk. If we did that to dogs, it would be animal cruelty and someone would be going to prison for it.”
Residential fall recycling events scheduled for September 11, October 16
The first of the two residential recycling events will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Sept. 11, in Woodstock at Woodstock North High School, 3000 Raffel Road. The second and final fall event will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 16, in Lake in the Hills at Chesak Elementary School, 10910 Reed Road.
McHenry County Named in Top 10% of Healthy Counties by U.S. News & World Report
The media company partnered with the Aetna Foundation, a philanthropic affiliate of CVS Health, to survey more than 3,000 communities nationwide. McHenry County came in at 233 rd most healthy, with a median score of 70 percent; the average for Illinois counties was 52 percent, and 48 percent nationally.
“It’s no secret that McHenry County is one of the best places in America to live, work, raise a family or start a business,” County Board Chairman Mike Buehler, R-Crystal Lake, said.

The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) considers an outbreak as two or more cases “linked epidemiologically that do not share the same household and are not listed as close contacts of each other outside the outbreak setting.”
Martin Elementary, a D158 school in Lake in the Hills, also joined the Illinois Department of Public Health’s (IDPH) list of schools in McHenry County recognized to have had an outbreak.

Parcels located at the northwest corner of Route 47 and Jim Dhamer Drive would be rezoned from “O” Corporate Office Districts and a “P” Park and Open Space District to allow more Regional Retail Districts, a Business Park district, and a new Park and Open Space District.

The Covington Project is 85% complete, said Timothy Farrell, director of public works and engineering for the Village of Huntley.
He said the project was broken into two phases.

MCDH to provide third COVID-19 dose for moderately to severely immunocompromised people
The decision to provide a third dose to this small pool of eligible individuals was made after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a formal recommendation on Friday, August 13. According to the CDC, “emerging data suggest some people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems do not always build the same level of immunity compared to people who are not immunocompromised.”
D158 faces public outcry as plans are solidified for the 2021-2022 school year
Despite masking controls being taken away from schools at the local level, Huntley Community School District (D158) was prepared to present the plans the district was hoping to implement, after Pritzker’s masking mandate is lifted.
D158 Superintendent Scott Rowe, revealed at the Aug. 5 Committee of the Whole meeting, that the district still plans on maintaining certain mitigation strategies like utilizing the three feet of social distancing whenever possible, and allowing students to “Zoom” into their classes if they are in quarantine.
BBQ King owner clears the air about social media backlash while focusing on employment needs
Sometime in July, a now deleted Facebook post on the BBQ King page stated the following:
“BBQ King Smokehouse will be closed for the next two weeks due to the fact that we have been trying to hire for over 6 months and no one shows up for interviews. On top of that the people we had feel they can do nothing and still keep their job.”
Huntley Senators Minor Division only the second team in Huntley history to play at the LLWS State Championship Tournament
Crowe explained to My Huntley News that the Minor Division can only compete at the state level versus being able to play against international teams in the LLWS, an event that is televised. The international games are reserved for kids ages 10 to 12 that are in the division above the Minors.

McHenry County reaches ‘substantial’ community transmission of COVID-19
MCDH recommends that everyone in McHenry County follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated guidance including wearing a mask when indoors regardless of their vaccination status.
Like the CDC the MCDH uses two indicators to determine community transmission: past seven-day incidence rate of cases per 100,000 persons and test positivity.

Renters and landlords who qualify are eligible for up to 18 months of assistance, and up to 12 months in arrears. A federally mandated halt on evictions, imposed last September by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, expired Aug.
Chicago man charged with the murder of a Carpentersville man
According to Carpentersville Police Deputy Chief Todd Shaver, officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m., where upon arrival, located a deceased male in the north hallway of the apartment complex.
The deceased male was identified as 30-year-old Jorge Sanchez of Elgin who was found with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
