A case investigation is ongoing, but the person who tested positive for the variant does not have a history of international travel.

The B.1.1.7 variant was first identified in the United Kingdom and has already been reported in other Northern Illinois counties, including Cook, DuPage, Lake and Lee.

On May 18, the Cougars will begin a three-game homestand against the Chicago Dogs.  The announcement of the first home game of 2021 brings back the reality of Cougars baseball and offers another activity in helping us return to normalcy.

The Kane County Cougars have not played a game since September 2019.

HUNTLEY - The Huntley Police Department issued a press release on March 1, describing an incident that took place at approximately 2:36 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27. According to the press release, the Huntley Police Department responded to a retail theft at the Walmart located at 12300 Illinois Route 47.

Upon responding to the incident, officers were advised that the suspects were fleeing the parking lot in a vehicle. A responding officer on scene was able to locate the vehicle matching the description given, and attempted to stop the vehicle around the Mill Street and Grove Street area.

Kane County Board member and Public Health Committee Chair Jarett Sanchez even went on the record with CBS 2 news anchor Lauren Victory, to attempt to clear up some of the public outcry.

Sanchez had similarly discussed topics of concerns pertaining to the COVID-19 vaccine, at the Feb.

According to the official press release, officers at the scene located an adult, male victim suffering from a gun shot wound and was treated on the spot by Marengo Fire & Rescue personnel.

The library also ensured that no fines will accumulate on borrowed materials and borrowed materials will not be due back until after April 26. Regular library services will also not be available, however that doesn’t apply to most of the library’s digital/online services.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 2017 Ford Escape was found to be partially in the building. Based on a statement from the Huntley Police Department, the driver was described as a 75-year-old Huntley woman.

McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Buehler, R-Crystal Lake, lauded the city and its volunteers for braving the snow and less than desirable freezing temperatures, to convert the building into a mass vaccination facility in only 11 days.

“The amount of vaccine that McHenry County has been receiving has been far short of what we need, but once supply comes closer to meeting the enormous demand, we’ll be ready to ramp up, thanks to the hard work and generosity of the people of McHenry,” Buehler said, who based on the press release, has formally requested for more doses to be allocated to McHenry County.

Susan Karras, the director of nursing for the McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH), stated that the closed Points of Distribution (POD) clinics were formed in partnership with the two schools, to tackle the 10,000 McHenry County educators who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Woodstock North High School hosted educators from the northern region, while Huntley High School handled the southern region of the county.
