HUNTLEY - The Huntley Police Department issued a press release on March 1, describing an incident that took place at approximately 2:36 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27. According to the press release, the Huntley Police Department responded to a retail theft at the Walmart located at 12300 Illinois Route 47.

Upon responding to the incident, officers were advised that the suspects were fleeing the parking lot in a vehicle. A responding officer on scene was able to locate the vehicle matching the description given, and attempted to stop the vehicle around the Mill Street and Grove Street area.

Kane County Board member and Public Health Committee Chair Jarett Sanchez even went on the record with CBS 2 news anchor Lauren Victory, to attempt to clear up some of the public outcry.

Sanchez had similarly discussed topics of concerns pertaining to the COVID-19 vaccine, at the Feb.

According to the official press release, officers at the scene located an adult, male victim suffering from a gun shot wound and was treated on the spot by Marengo Fire & Rescue personnel.

The library also ensured that no fines will accumulate on borrowed materials and borrowed materials will not be due back until after April 26. Regular library services will also not be available, however that doesn’t apply to most of the library’s digital/online services.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 2017 Ford Escape was found to be partially in the building. Based on a statement from the Huntley Police Department, the driver was described as a 75-year-old Huntley woman.

McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Buehler, R-Crystal Lake, lauded the city and its volunteers for braving the snow and less than desirable freezing temperatures, to convert the building into a mass vaccination facility in only 11 days.

“The amount of vaccine that McHenry County has been receiving has been far short of what we need, but once supply comes closer to meeting the enormous demand, we’ll be ready to ramp up, thanks to the hard work and generosity of the people of McHenry,” Buehler said, who based on the press release, has formally requested for more doses to be allocated to McHenry County.

The hosts of the meeting included McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Buehler, MCDH Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson, MCDH Director of Nursing Susan Karras, and Public Health and Community Services Committee Chairwoman Lori Parrish.

Susan Karras, the director of nursing for the McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH), stated that the closed Points of Distribution (POD) clinics were formed in partnership with the two schools, to tackle the 10,000 McHenry County educators who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Woodstock North High School hosted educators from the northern region, while Huntley High School handled the southern region of the county.

Mary Schneider, Michael Postelnick, and Mike Bentley never hesitated in scheduling or receiving their first dose of Moderna vaccine or their second dose about 30 days later.

Schneider is an oncology nurse at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital. Postelnick is an infectious disease and antimicrobial pharmacist at Northwestern Medicine Hospitals in Huntley, McHenry and Woodstock.  Bentley is manager of plant operations at Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.

Schneider, Postelnick, and Bentley agreed to an interview to give their personal story of receiving the primary dose and booster dose, their reasons for getting the vaccine, and what they’ve seen and learned about COVID-19 from their vantage point in their position at Northwestern Medicine.

Porter recalled the Oct. 9 incident to attendees at the meeting. Larkin arrived on scene at approximately 8:54 a.m.

An investigation revealed that a 1999 Acura TL was traveling northbound on Route 47 when it collided with a 2016 GMC Sierra that was heading southbound on Route 47. The reason for why the Acura driver lost control of the vehicle is unknown.

The Huntley Fire Protection District made a request for two ambulances to the scene but later canceled the second one.

The negative implications of an entire ban on dine in services issued by Gov. JB Pritzker this past November, was much too grave of a situation for some restaurants to bare, leading a few local eateries to defy Pritzker’s orders and continue to serve customers indoors.

Republican primary races are being held for Algonquin Township, Grafton Township, and Nunda Township offices. Only Republican ballots are available for this primary election – this is not early voting for the April 6 consolidated election.

The call center will be used to connect McHenry County residents to vaccine resources and assist them in completing the online enrollment process. Residents who have general questions about the COVID-19 vaccine are also encouraged to call.

“We have put in place a resource to reduce barriers for residents in accessing accurate information about available COVID-19 vaccines,” said Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson.

“We’re excited to see the transmission of the virus declining to allow for additional loosening of restrictions,” said Melissa Adamson, Public Health Administrator for the McHenry County Department of Health. “The way forward, to Phase 5, will continue to demand that we practice the universal precautions to minimize the circulation of the virus.

One of the motivating factors for voters in local races is anything affecting their property taxes. So naturally the first question for each of the Assessor candidates is for their response to rising property taxes.

McHenry County is in the process of transitioning its vaccination efforts to administering first doses for Phase 1b recipients, including educators and school personnel, who will begin to be inoculated by the end of next week – ahead of schedule.

“With federal and state vaccine supplies going to retail pharmacies, in addition to a growing number of community partners, residents and those who work in McHenry County within the priority groups will have many more options of where they can receive the vaccine,” Public Health Administrator Melissa Adamson said.

In his analysis of the drawing power of the February 23 Republican Consolidated Primary and the November 3, 2020 presidential election, McHenry County Clerk Joe Tirio feels the township races directly affect an individual.

In-person voting in the consolidated primary began January 14. Voters in Algonquin Township, Grafton Township, and Nunda Township have had an opportunity to visit the McHenry County Administration Building Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m.
