The two firms, HYA (Hazard, Young, Attea Associates) and IASB (Illinois Association of School Boards)—were revealed by BOE President Andy Bittman in an Oct. 16 message to D158 families and staff. Both firms have a solid track record of educational leadership recruitment, with HYA being the firm used by Arlington Heights-based Northwest High School District 214 to hire former D158 Superintendent Dr.

The sheriff’s deputy, later identified as 33-year-old Brian Anderson, was traveling southbound on Route 47 when his Dodge Durango squad car was struck head-on by a Dually Dodge 5500 pickup truck with an attached loaded trailer.

According to the initial investigation, the Dually Dodge was heading northbound on Route 47 when it attempted to stop in traffic.

The information was obtained back in June from the Internet Crimes Against Children database, where after a four-month investigation, the Huntley Police Department’s Investigations Division was able to identify the offender as 29-year-old Allen Q. Nguyen.

The conceptual plans, which were reviewed by the Village Board on April 27, also included the addition of a Which Wich sandwich restaurant and a standalone car wash. Overall, trustees had a positive outlook for the new project and only requested a few changes to the original plans.

According to East Dundee village staff, Kruger retired as the chief of police for the Oak Brook Police Department back in December 2021 after serving for that department for 10 years. He was hired in his current role for the village back in February 2022.

He initially started his policing career at the Carpentersville Police Department back in 1984, where he rose through the ranks eventually becoming a commander.

The community features 96 units with spacious one- and two-bedroom, pet-friendly options available to its residents. The facility with a tower is proposed to be constructed on property located at 11245 Huntley-Dundee Road, which is currently being occupied by the trucking and excavating company Rico Inc.

According to village staff, Vertical Bridge states that the new facility with tower structure will assist in providing uninterrupted wireless telephone service, voice paging, messaging, wireless internet, and broadband data transmission to Huntley residents and visitors to the village and the surrounding area.

According to the Village Board meeting agenda packet, in 2022, East Dundee village staff were presented with options for the addition of parking to serve downtown East Dundee. One of those recommendations involved the construction of a “contextually appropriate” two-story parking garage with a historic façade at the corner of Jackson and River Street.

True North came forward with conceptual renderings for the redevelopment of the building, which will see it be converted to accommodate it for restaurant use.

A deadline date of Jan. 27 was set for the invitation of alternative bids and proposals for the former Village Hall building, but no other propositions from developers were submitted.

Senior Aubrey Dingbaum and junior Maddie Sloan advanced from the regional to the Burlington Central Sectional Oct. 2 at Whisper Creek Golf Course in Huntley. Dingbaum shot a 94 while Sloan had a 96 Sept. 28.

“I was very proud of them for grinding it out when conditions were tough,” HHS coach Lindsey Allen said of Dingbaum and Sloan.

“She will be moving to the sunny state of Florida with her husband,” said BOE President Andy Bittman. “We will let the regional office of education know that this opening is available which is something we need to do and then we will be looking for folks who would like to be on the board, and similar to the past openings, we’ll do a round of interviews.”

In a July 2022 Village Board meeting, Hamra Enterprises, a nationwide, family-owned, restaurant operator headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, came before trustees to present new final Planned Unit Development (PUD) plans for the construction of a 3,500 square-foot Panera Bread restaurant to be located on 1.87 acres of Outlot 5 of the Huntley Grove Commercial Subdivision.

As of Sept. 21, there have been at least six confirmed cases of STEC, all of which involve students, according to MCDH and D158.

McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally released a statement calling the first day of operations under the SAFE-T Act “absurd and incoherent.”

“As has been said many times, the most glaring problem with the SAFE-T Act is that pretrial release decisions are being made based on the type of charge a defendant faces, not a defendant’s dangerousness or likelihood of complying with court orders,” said Kenneally.

According to McHenry Police Department Chief John Birk, once officers arrived on the scene, they learned about a disturbance that had occurred between two subjects in a public parking area.

The preliminary investigation determined that one of the subjects involved in the disturbance had entered a vehicle and left the area.

Formed in 2013, the Independants (spelled that way in a newspaper article more than 150 years ago) follow 1858 rules. That means no gloves, lemon-peel baseballs (stitches meet at the top), no pitched balls from the “hurler” and called strikes only if “striker” swings and misses. A ball caught on the first bounce is considered an out and a ball is ruled fair or foul based solely on where it first touches the ground.

At the time of the incident, information was provided to law enforcement regarding an almost two-year-old child who was taken in a vehicle.

Detectives continued to investigate the abduction until the suspect involved in the incident was located and taken into custody in Chicago.

The child was located and safely reunited with his mother, stated the Elgin Police Department.

Once the first responding units arrived at the scene, firefighters were confronted with a fire in the basement. Fire protection personnel immediately began firefighting operations to extinguish the blaze, stated Interim Carpentersville Fire Department Chief Rick Nieves.

The home sustained significant damage, which made it uninhabitable, added Nieves. The fire department estimated the initial damage to cost approximately $300,000.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered that the Honda Civic had been struck by a 2007 Mack semi-tractor trailer.

Following the preliminary investigation, Bartlett Police officers alleged that the Honda Civic was traveling northbound on IL Route 25 when it failed to yield turning left onto Keynon Drive while at a green light.

The court order comes despite the employers’ attempt to interfere with the U.S. Department of Labor investigation that found they illegally denied the workers their earned overtime wages.
